Spitler Cupboard
This boldly painted hanging cupboard with its leaping stag on the door is the work of Johannes Spitler of Shenandoah County, Virginia. Made around the turn of the 19th century, the paint decoration could be the work of fellow Mennonite neighbor, minister and fraktur artist, Jacob Strickler.
